Where Community and Care Come Together

At Tarbiyyah Horizons, we believe in the transformative power of a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children and youth. Our foster care initiative serves Muslim children and youth, ages 0-18, by providing culturally responsive care through foster homes and staff-modelled homes. Our commitment to the principles of Ubuntu ensures that every child in our care receives the love, respect, and community they need to flourish. Rooted in the values of Farah Family Solutions Inc., we aim to create an inclusive environment that embraces each child’s cultural and religious identity without imposing faith, allowing them to thrive on their own terms.

Our Mission

At Tarbiyyah Horizons, our mission is to offer a supportive, stable, and culturally sensitive environment where children and youth can grow and heal. We provide trauma-informed care that nurtures the mental health and emotional well-being of the children in our care, while also honoring their unique cultural and religious identities. Our foster homes and staff modelled homes create safe spaces where children can explore their potential, develop resilience, and gain the skills needed to succeed in life, all while maintaining a strong connection to their community and heritage.

Our Vision

Our vision is simple yet profound: to create a world where every
Muslim child has the opportunity to feel safe, valued, and
empowered. We envision a system where cultural and religious
identities are respected, and where children are given the care
they need to heal from trauma and grow into confident,
compassionate adults.
At Tarbiyyah Horizons, we work to make this vision a reality by
creating homes and communities where children can thrive—not
just survive. Our goal is to ensure that every child in our care feels
connected to their cultural roots, supported in their faith, and
empowered to achieve their full potential.

Our Approach

Tarbiyyah Horizons is committed to leading a transformative approach to care for children and youth, offering culturally competent and trauma-informed services designed to meet the unique needs of Muslim Children and Youth. Our program places an emphasis on:

  • Family-Based Placements: We believe that children thrive best in family environments where their cultural and religious values are understood and respected. Our foster homes provide this essential stability and care, helping children feel safe and connected.
  • Culturally Sensitive Interventions: By integrating culturally informed therapeutic interventions, we ensure that the children in our care receive the emotional and psychological support they need while honoring their background.
  • Long-Term Stability: We focus on providing long-term solutions that prioritize stability and permanency, ensuring that children and youth can build strong relationships, grow emotionally, and feel secure in their homes.

Why We Exist?

We exist because we understand the unique challenges that Muslim children and youth face within the foster care system. These children often experience a disconnect from their cultural
or religious roots, which can leave them feeling lost or misunderstood. Tarbiyyah Horizons was created to bridge this gap by offering culturally responsive care that not only acknowledges but celebrates their identities.

We believe that when children are cared for in an environment that reflects their values, beliefs, and cultural practices, they are better able to heal, grow, and build resilience. Our organization is committed to creating a holistic care model that supports the entire child—mind, body, and spirit.

Our work is driven by the belief that community and care are inseparable. Tarbiyyah Horizons was born out of the deep conviction that every child has a purpose, and it is our responsibility to create the conditions that allow them to realize that purpose. By providing culturally informed care, we ensure that each child feels understood, supported, and empowered to navigate their challenges and find their path to success.

Our Core Values

A New Horizon for Foster Care

At Tarbiyyah Horizons, we are more than just a foster care
organization—we are a community of caregivers, advocates, and
champions for Muslim children and youth. We are driven by a
profound commitment to uplift and empower the children in our
care, recognizing that they are not just the future—they are the
present. We invite you to join us in creating a future where
community and care truly come together for every child.
