Position Overview:

Tarbiyyah Horizons is looking for an enthusiastic and community-focused Foster Parent Recruiter to join our team. In this role, you will engage with local communities to identify, recruit, and assess potential foster families who can provide nurturing, faith-based homes for children in our care. This position is essential in expanding our network of foster parents, with a particular focus on recruiting families who understand and value the cultural, religious, and emotional needs of children, especially those from Muslim and Black communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

Actively engage with local communities, faith-based organizations, and cultural groups to identify individuals and families interested in becoming foster parents. Build strong relationships with community leaders, religious institutions, and other stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.

Foster Parent Recruitment:

Develop and implement recruitment strategies that target diverse families who are aligned with the values and mission of Tarbiyyah Horizons. Organize information sessions, community outreach events, and other initiatives to raise awareness about foster parenting opportunities.

Screening and Assessment:

Conduct initial screenings and assessments of potential foster families to ensure they meet the criteria for providing safe, nurturing, and culturally supportive homes. Work closely with families to understand their strengths and readiness to foster children in need.

Faith-Based Support:

Emphasize the importance of creating homes that support the faith and cultural practices of the children in care. Recruit foster families who are able to integrate faith-based values into their home environments, contributing to the spiritual and emotional well-being of the children.

Public Awareness Campaigns:

Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create public awareness campaigns that highlight the need for foster parents within the community. Use various platforms, including social media, local events, and faith-based networks, to reach potential foster families.

Collaboration with Foster Parent Coordinator:

Work closely with the Foster Parent Coordinator to ensure that recruited families receive proper training and ongoing support. Help bridge the gap between recruitment and fostering, ensuring a smooth transition for both families and children.

Data Management:

Maintain accurate records of outreach efforts, applications, and assessments. Track recruitment progress and report on outcomes to ensure the effectiveness of recruitment strategies.

Qualifications:

  • A background in social work, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Experience in recruitment, preferably in foster care or social services.
  • Strong understanding of cultural and faith-based needs, with experience working with Muslim and Black communities being an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect and build relationships with diverse families and community members.
